Dublin, Ireland – September 15, 2026 – Author Geoff Wright will publish the second book in his Magic Tree series, Georgia and the Magic Tree, through EU Reads Publishing on 23 June 2026. The picture book follows Amelia and the Magic Tree, the first title in the series, and continues Geoff’s tradition of turning the bedtime stories he tells his grandchildren into books for young readers.
The story follows Georgia, a lonely young girl who discovers a hidden door inside a mysterious tree. Once she works out the special trick needed to open it, she finds a spiral staircase leading down into a world quite unlike her own. There, Georgia meets new people, makes unexpected friends, and is set on the path to her next adventure. Along the way, the book shows Georgia being brave and curious and rewards her with an exciting new world to explore and friends to cure her loneliness. At its heart, it is a story about friendship and the courage to imagine, and it invites children to dream up magical places of their own.
The idea began on holiday when Geoff was asked by his grandchildren to tell a bedtime story rather than read one from a book.
“They said, ‘Tell us a story from your head,’” Geoff explained. “The Magic Tree was the first idea that came to me.”
Geoff wrote the first draft in around two hours, having already worked out the story in his head while telling it to his grandchildren. Turning it into a finished picture book took considerably longer, with several weeks spent shortening, editing, and refining the text so it would suit young readers. He also worked closely on the artwork, aiming for a brighter, more realistic style than is typical in children’s picture books, in the hope of drawing readers further into Georgia’s world.
The book is aimed at parents and grandparents reading with young children, a readership Geoff has kept in mind since the series began.
A semi-retired IT professional, Geoff develops applications for small businesses and enjoys oil painting in his spare time. His children’s stories are inspired directly by the bedtime tales he shares with his grandchildren, and with a second title soon to be published, he plans to continue building the Magic Tree series.
