At 7:30 AM on November 26th, the 2023 Tianmu Lake Marathon fired its starting gun in Liyang, Changzhou.
2023 Tianmu Lake Marathon
Chinese athlete Cao Tianxiang clinched first place in the men’s half marathon with a time of 1:07:18, while Wang Tian secured the women’s half marathon title with a time of 1:24:52. In the full marathon category, Ethiopian runners Hirpha Temesgen Gonfa and Jaleta Lensa Debele triumphed in the men’s and women’s divisions, clocking in at 2:21:41 and 2:34:30, respectively.
The total scale of the 2023 Tianmu Lake Marathon was set at 12,000 participants, divided into three categories: full marathon (42.195 kilometers), half marathon (21.0975 kilometers), and a health run (5 kilometers).
The starting point of the event was set at the west gate of the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Tianmu Lake Campus. The full marathon route passed through Yanshan South Road, Mingzhu Avenue, Jiaoweiqin Avenue, and Lieshan Road, entering the Daixi Lake Reservoir circular route inside Liyang No. 1 Road. Half marathon runners diverged onto Dongma Road and later merged with the full marathon participants on Mingzhu Avenue, passing through Binhu Avenue and Tianmu Road to reach the finish line at the Tianmu Lake Archway.
Beyond the race, various activities such as parent-child sports, fashion sports, leisure sports, and intangible cultural heritage markets were set up, enhancing the all-around experience of the participants’ first Tianmu Lake Marathon.
