Developer addresses US housing crisis by repurposing hotels into apartments in critical markets

November 01 14:27 2021
Development firm adds two multifamily properties in high-demand housing markets in California & Florida without emissions from new construction.

Vivo Living (“Vivo”) expands its hotel recycling model to two major tourism destinations in CA and FL closeby to theme parks and airports, putting Vivo at twelve total multifamily properties in the United States. Through Vivo’s unique business model, units are able to rent at approximately a 10% to 20% discount to the current market without compromising on amenities; all without adding emissions from resource-intensive, ground up construction.

At market-rate, flexible pricing, Vivo apartments are offered in the low-to-mid price range while also delivering class-A, hotel-like amenities to tenants (free wifi, lounge areas, pool, gym, etc.).

Vivo’s mission is to solve America’s housing affordability crisis through sustainability-focused property acquisition and adaptive reuse of existing buildings into apartment complexes. The addresses of the two new Vivo properties are:

1. Vivo Torrance (108 units): 4111 Pacific Coast Highway, Torrance, CA 90505

2. Vivo Kissimmee (223 units): 4018 W Vine St, Kissimmee, FL, 34741

“Vivo aims to reduce traffic, waste and sprawl by carefully selecting each location to be in physical proximity to shopping, markets, entertainment and other necessities. We are reusing buildings versus building ground-up. Adaptive reuse is the most environmentally friendly way of developing; we are basically a building recycling company,” notes Dan Norville, founder and CEO of Vivo Living.

With locations now in ten states including Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Utah, Vivo continues to expand.

Headquartered in El Segundo, California, Vivo was founded in 2020 to offer flexible, modern efficiency apartments with all the best parts of hotel living included. The firm specializes in converting low-demand hotels and other buildings into affordably priced apartment complexes for renters. Vivo’s mission is to solve America’s housing affordability crisis through adaptive reuse while reducing traffic, waste and sprawl.
