March 05 06:15 2021

March 5, 2021 – Missy Burton, an award-winning photographer is set to unveil her latest photographic series at the African American museum of Dallas. The exhibit is entitled, “Dynasty: The Peculiar Search for Totality” and it features photography, poetry, history, and augmented reality to tell the story of one family’s ancestral journey to freedom.

“My inspiration comes from my perception of the effects of social influences on human rights. My work is often described as emotional, edgy & audacious. I invite the viewer to approach my work with curiosity and be open to a strong connection with my works and the stories behind them,” says Missy Burton.

Opening weekend will be filled with lots of excitement because Missy Burton will bring her images to life using Sanaa, an app created by Gregg Young. Sanaa, Swahili for ‘Art’ or more specifically a “work of beauty” uses art and technology to bring art to life using augmented reality to create the user experience.

Missy Burton is the Co-Founder of Msanii HOUS Fine Art and her work is in the permanent collection of the African American Museum of Dallas and multiple private collections. Burton currently lives and works in Dallas, TX and is passionate about mentoring emerging artists.

“Dynasty: The Peculiar Search for Totality” opens on March 12th and runs through June 12th. The opening reception on March 12th will feature live music by Clover the Violinist from 4:00-7:00 PM (extended museum hours) as well as an opportunity to meet the artist and the creator of the Sanaa app.  Currently normal museum operating hours are Tues-Friday-Saturday 12:00-5:00 PM.
